Sometimes I share with you the things I need to hear or am working on also. Kinda like how if we really want to learn something - teaching it is the best way to gain comprehension/mastery.
So here’s my message to you entrepreneurs today that I tell myself too: •You are original. •You are courageous. •You are smart. •You’ve always had what it takes. •Your heart is in the right place. •Keep coloring outside the lines; being different is your strength. •Your success is in the “trying” irrespective of outcome because your joy is in the work.

THIS. TOOK. MY. BREATH. AWAY in every respect. I’ve been trying to be resilient and kick some quarantine @$$ and stand out as a fitness leader. March 2020, I sprung up on the balls of my feet feeling scrappy, defensive, and ready to fight for all who NEED the ROUTINE, NEED the physical RELEASE, NEED the emotional OUTLET, NEED the SOCIAL ~ or they will implode. (Side note I’m also one of those people ✋🏼). Just when I thought we couldn’t level up anymore, we did. As usual, It wasn’t by my solo efforts. It was our team, our online fitness FAMILY rallying, inspiring, and relentlessly innovating. When I saw the bird 🦅 fly by and I wept. I realized not only have we been succeeding but we are better than we have ever been. Thank you to my friend and colleague, Paul, for taking us to new heights today with his live video share 🙇🏻♀️. I didn't play with barbies growing up. I played with stormtroopers, footballs, baseballs, and basketballs. The posters in my bedroom were the BEARS and the BULLS. I hung out in the weight room in high school, skipping all dances including prom. And even though I eventually decided I was girlie in my twenties, I never stopped loving athletic strength training. WARRIOR Strength™ is my new creation. Our instructor training course is in a pre-launch phase. If you would like to be part of the brand's launch team, NOW is the time. This program is going to rock...LITERALLY! ⏱ I have so much to stay about workout wear best practices.
1. Preselect. Choosing your outfit the night before sets you up for showing up! 2. Fit. Comfortable, functional product is a must. Is it the right bra support? Is it warm/cool enough? Does the fabric allow full movements? Is it breathable? Fast drying? 3. Style. Feeling like you look good is motivating. This is SO true that when clients tell me they are in a fitness slump I’ve been known to recommend a new outfit. The Align short is a wardrobe staple for me. But the Wunder Train Crop and the Leg 🦵🏽 Warmers made a debut appearance today. The top fit like a 🧤 and the leg warmers never slid down. Big workout wardrobe win. What are your staple items? And have you added any fun new products lately? Stuck, discouraged or intimidated about teaching virtual? If I can do it- you can do it!! As you all know, the fitness landscape has changed forever. Mandated studio closures are back on the rise. It’s never been more important to be relevant. Fit pros unwilling to adapt (which can be an indication of victim mindset) lost their impact and even their jobs. Those who stepped up and got uncomfy, increased their reach and demand! Leaders, let’s not horde our knowledge. Let’s SHARE so we can ALL win, level up and serve our communities and the entire world with quality, online GroupX classes. #abundance Here to help. And here to learn. I’m thinking about putting together an organized 3-part curriculum for my staff and my WARRIOR fam (even though I have some trainings already on YouTube): 1) What to buy 2) How to do it 3) Best practices for teaching online Would that be valuable to you?
I was born in the south; Corpus Christi, Texas. I loved the humid nights, Cicada sounds wafting rhythmically through unlocked screen doors...my grandma’s fig tree that crawled with little chameleons...smiley people and the way folks would “reckon it was yonder”. I grew up in the midwest: Chicago, Illinois. It overwhelmed and scared me, mostly. Honking horns, pompous sky scrapers and wind chills. Dirty snow piles from salt ruined cars- ugly like the laughter from school kids making fun of me for my hand-me-downs, my too -loud- laugh and my teenage weight gain. I loved the Cubs and Bears and Bulls and the art museum but wound up (rather successfully) stopping eating for a few horrific years. I landed in the Pacific Northwest where I planted my feet and felt the roots grow underneath them. I love the mountains and the ocean. This is where my soul took its shoes off, and squished its toes into the sand. It caught it’s breathe and slowly exhaled. My children. My husband. This photo reminds me of where I’ve been and how far I’ve come and how thankful I am for it ALL. Above all I’m thankful for my faith -that was with me like a stowaway hidden in every suitcase- and the way it tucks me into my covers at night whether I’m afraid, sad or on top of the world. I’m kind of glad it didn’t occur to me until I got home that today was my last “Sidewalk Spin” class, because I would have cried about it during the cool down- guaranteed!
Oregon has tight mask mandates and Spinning is HARD to do with a mask because it’s so respiratory. So we brought our classes outside this pandemic-summer. It was so delightful, breathing the fresh air, watching the Downtown vibe ebb and flow around us. We even made a game of counting the boxes of Voodoo Doughnuts that walked by during each class. My bike was perched between to oak trees and when the season turned to Fall I watched the trees gloriously change outfits and during one class in particular the leaves floated down upon me every few minutes. I knew it was becoming sentimental. I knew I’d miss it. But above all I was acutely aware of how symbolic is was of our willingness to adapt, grow, innovate and make the very BEST of a difficult situation. We (class and community) were close- but we are closer now. And now it’s time for the next GREAT thing as we move the bikes to the sports bar for rainy, freezing days and the beautiful deck for sunny days. Thank you to all of you who showed up and made history in each others lives. I love you. 🚴🍂🍩🐲 And PS. Happy 👻 Halloween The in me bows to the in you. ᴺᴬᴹᴬˢᵀᴱ Truly...in utter humility I lower my head and THANK the light and life force in each of you ~ the small-but-mighty, stick of dynamite 🧨 instructors ~ who chose to breathe your essence, energy and life into this new brand. You made it come ALIVE across the country (and a tiny bit beyond). My heart overflows with love and gratitude. And if we can do THIS together NOW (in a pandemic) then we can move mountains.
