I’m kind of glad it didn’t occur to me until I got home that today was my last “Sidewalk Spin” class, because I would have cried about it during the cool down- guaranteed!
Oregon has tight mask mandates and Spinning is HARD to do with a mask because it’s so respiratory. So we brought our classes outside this pandemic-summer. It was so delightful, breathing the fresh air, watching the Downtown vibe ebb and flow around us. We even made a game of counting the boxes of Voodoo Doughnuts that walked by during each class. My bike was perched between to oak trees and when the season turned to Fall I watched the trees gloriously change outfits and during one class in particular the leaves floated down upon me every few minutes. I knew it was becoming sentimental. I knew I’d miss it. But above all I was acutely aware of how symbolic is was of our willingness to adapt, grow, innovate and make the very BEST of a difficult situation. We (class and community) were close- but we are closer now. And now it’s time for the next GREAT thing as we move the bikes to the sports bar for rainy, freezing days and the beautiful deck for sunny days. Thank you to all of you who showed up and made history in each others lives. I love you. 🚴🍂🍩🐲 And PS. Happy 👻 Halloween
